A former Homes England director has been appointed to a senior housing manager role by East London council.
Paul Kitson, who spent a decade working at Homes England as an area director, will take up the position of corporate director for the economy, housing and inclusive culture at Newham Council.
Kitson will join Newham in April, having been strategic director for places, prosperity and sustainability at Birmingham City Council for the past two years.
During his 10 years at Homes England, Kitson led the garden towns and villages program in the South East.
Kitson said: “Newham has the most exciting development and regeneration schemes in London, if not the country.”

He added: “I can’t wait to work with the Mayor, chief executive and the community of Newham to make those plans a reality and build on the already solid work already taking place.”
In October, Newham Council won its case against Chaplair Limited for failing to remove flammable cladding from a building in Forest Gate.
