LUBBOCK, Texas – KLBK forecaster Kathryn Campbell has a weather update Sunday night for April 30, 2023.
Good evening and happy Sunday. We’ve seen some warm temperatures this weekend and it looks like we’ll stay warm for the next few days.
Tonight: Temperatures will bottom out at 47 degrees in Lubbock. Light winds will begin to decrease. Winds will blow eastward at about 15-20 mph.
Tomorrow: Temperatures on Monday won’t be as warm as this weekend, but everywhere in the South Plains will be in the mid to high 80s.
Extended forecast: Tuesday will start to get more cloudy. Winds will shift more from the southeast at about 10-15 mph. Our lowest will be 52 degrees with a peak of 77. The storm will begin after lunchtime, start with showers, and turn into a thunderstorm around 4:00 p.m.
Wednesday will warm up a little; 54 is our low in the morning and 80 is our highest. Thunderstorms will continue after lunch as the day before. Winds will blow southeast at about 10-15 mph. We will have about 20-30% chance for rainfall.
Wednesday night will be a warm night with lows of 57 degrees. Thursday will warm up to 85 degrees and the clouds should disappear over the next few days.
Friday morning will see temperatures in the low to high 50s across the South Plains. Our highs for Friday will be back above the 80s; 88 degrees in Lubbock! The sky will be sunny and clear.
The weekend will start with some hot temperatures. Saturday’s low will be 53 degrees and the highest will be 87 degrees. Looks like a nice day with a light breeze; winds from the southwest around 12-18 mph.
Sunday’s low will be 54 degrees and the highest will be 88 degrees. The sky will be very clear with little cloud cover. Winds will be less than 20 miles per hour.
