According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), rainfall and thunderstorm activity in northwest India is expected to decrease from Wednesday. However, a fresh wave of rain is likely to start over the region from May 5. Meanwhile, rain activity is likely to decrease on the southern Indian peninsula from Thursday.
Light Isolated with scattered rain accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are very likely in this area over the next five days. Hail is most likely to hit isolated places across Eastern Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha on Thursday.
Rainfall is also predicted over the southern part of India over the next five days. “Heavy to very heavy rains are very likely to occur in isolated places on Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal on May 3, heavy rain in isolated places in Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Inland South Karnataka and Kerala & Mahe on May 3,” the MeT ministry said.
Light to moderate rainfall is common to widespread with thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds very likely in northeast India over the next three days. Heavy rain is expected in isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh until May 5 and in Assam and Meghalaya on May 4.
