Today & Tonight:
Cool and even warmer weather is forecast for Tuesday across the South Plains and the Rolling Plains. Most sunny conditions are expected, but a few clouds may return in the afternoon across the Rolling Plains. A late afternoon thunderstorm or two over parts of the Rolling Plains is less likely. High temperatures will range from the mid 80s to the lower 90s. Winds will blow southwest at 15 to 20 mph. Fire weather concerns were raised in the afternoon.
There is a slight chance of a thunderstorm or two in the evening over parts of the Rolling Plains. Otherwise, mostly clear and cool conditions are forecast for tonight and overnight across the region. Fire weather concerns will persist through mid-evening. This will be a mild night with lows to higher than 50. Winds will blow southwest at 15 to 20 mph.
The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Red Flag Alert from 1:00pm CDT to 9:00pm CDT Tuesday for Bailey, Briscoe, Castro, Cochran, Crosby, Floyd, Garza, Hale, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Parmer County, Swisher, Terry and Yoakum in Texas. Severe fire weather conditions are forecast.
The National Weather Service in Midland has issued a Red Flag Alert from 12:00 PM MDT to 8:00 PM CDT Tuesday for Lea County in New Mexico. Severe fire weather conditions are forecast.
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Red Flag Alert from 12:00 PM MDT to 8:00 PM MDT Tuesday for Curry and Roosevelt County in New Mexico. Severe fire weather conditions are forecast.

The Hurricane Prediction Center actually poses a “marginal” (level 1 in 5) risk for severe weather late Tuesday afternoon and evening for the Rolling Plains. Strong gusts of wind/individual damage and heavy hail are possible.

Wednesday is forecast to be warm and cool. High temperatures will range from the mid 80s to the lower 90s. Winds will blow southwest at 15 to 25 mph with gusts of up to 35 mph. Sky conditions will be mostly sunny.

Extended forecast:
There is a slight chance of individual thunderstorms late Tuesday afternoon and Tuesday evening over the Far East Rolling Plains. On the other hand, cool weather is expected daily. Fire weather concerns are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday.
Warmer weather is forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday with daily highs from the mid-1980s to lower 90s. Highs will fall again in the mid-70s to lower range 80’s on Thursday. Friday and Saturday will be cooler with highs only at their lows through the mid-60s. On Sundays the highs will be slightly milder in the 60+ to under 70s. We should warm back to the lows. lows to mid-80s for daytime highs next Monday.
Wednesday morning’s lows will be milder and range from below 50 degrees Celsius to above 50 degrees Celsius. Thursday morning lows will range from the mid-40s to mid-50s.
