LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Overcast sunshine is expected again today, otherwise skies will be mostly sunny. Temperatures will be slightly warmer, but still pleasant with peaks above 70 and below 80.
Wildfire smoke will be denser later today until tonight.
Superior winds turn away from the west on Saturday, which will begin to push thicker smoke out of the area.
Saturday will be slightly warmer and wetter, but still dry under sunny skies.
Then our attention turns to the Next Important Thing. A cold front swept through Sunday night into Monday. That creates a good chance for showers and thunderstorms Sunday, especially in the afternoon and evening.
As we’ve highlighted all week, some storms can be strong to severe. The Hurricane Forecast Center currently has our area at Risk Level 1 for severe storms. The damaging winds would be the main serious threat.
Another storm system could emerge mid-to-late next week providing another opportunity for storms.
