James Maddison has been tipped as a big signing for Tottenham but warned he must put on ‘hard pitches’ under Ange Postecoglou.
The Leicester City star looks set to go to Spurs as Newcastle United ease their interest and former Premier League star Trevor Sinclair thinks it would be a good buyout for the north Londoner.
“Historically, Tottenham has always had a playing midfielder, someone who can hold the ball, is technical, can see and try everything, not too secure, and I think it’s James Maddison,” Sinclair said. .
“I think he will be a big addition for them, for anyone in the league as a team player, but for Spurs, I think he can go right there and start.
“From what I heard, Ange Postecoglou impressed him, but he has to understand that if he wants to play for Postecoglou at Spurs, he has to work with the ball, not just with it.
“It’s an area where I feel if he wants to get to the next level, he can work harder without the ball, so if he wants to come work for Postecoglou, he has to. Do your best.”
