Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rain in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts on July 3 and 4. IMD has issued a yellow warning for these districts which means there is a 60% chance of heavy rain.
The heavy rain is thought to be caused by an area of low pressure currently forming over the Bay of Bengal. The low pressure area is expected to move towards Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts on July 3, bringing showers and thunderstorms.

IMD has advised people in Hyderabad and Rangareddy districts to prepare for heavy rain. They advised people to stay indoors during heavy rains and avoid driving unless absolutely necessary. They have also advised people to monitor the weather forecast and follow the instructions of the authorities.

Forecasts say Adilabad, Kothagudem, Khammam, Suryapet and Nalgonda are on yellow alert on Monday. On Tuesday, this will extend to Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Rangareddy, Hyderabad, Medchal, Yadadri, Siddipet, Jagaon, Hanmakonda, Warangal, Mahbubabad, Suryapet, Nalgonda and Khammam.

With maximum temperatures reaching 36-37 degrees on Saturday in various parts of Hyderabad, these rains are likely to get worse. “This could lead to good rains in the evening and night in Hyderabad as happened on Saturday,” said T Balaji, a weather watcher. On Sunday, some areas of GHMC such as Hafeezpet and Banjara Hills recorded 3.5mm and 2.8mm of rain respectively on Sunday.

Heavy rains are expected to cause some disruption to traffic and power supply. Everyone should plan their trip accordingly and be prepared for a power outage.
