LIVE weather updates | As flooding persists in Delhi, official Atishi order
Due to the rising water level of the Yamuna River, flooding continues in some parts of Delhi, a video shared by the ANI news agency shows. Monitoring the situation, Delhi Public Works Minister Atishi directed officials on Sunday to speed up the process of drainage and road cleaning from sections of the Ring Road to ensure smooth traffic flow.
A PTI report said Atishi visited flood-affected spots in Chandgiram Akhada, Monastery Market, Nigambodh Ghat, Hanuman Mandir, Shantivan, Rajghat, ITO and Sachivalaya Road on the Ring Road. She directed officials to work around the clock to remove floodwaters from the Ring Road as the road is vital to central Delhi and is an important route for thousands of vehicles daily.
Atishi emphasized that road drainage and cleaning work should be done during a state of war so that traffic in the area can be quickly resumed. Atishi found water accumulating behind the Nigambodh Ghat and the Red Fort. To address the issue, she directed the deployment of more pumps to speed up the drainage process, according to an official statement.
