Casarotto Ramsey & Associates – the UK-based talent agency representing writers, directors, literary properties and department heads for film, television and theatre – has appointed Anna Higgs as the new chief executive.
Higgs, who has spent more than three decades in the industry in a variety of roles, most recently as director of entertainment partnerships at Meta, previously worked at Film4 and was recently re-elected to BAFTA’s film committee, which she chaired for two years (which is the center of its major awards review). She joined Casarotto Ramsey in August, reports directly to the dealership’s board of directors, and has been dispatched to oversee the company’s business and strategic direction and development.
“A central theme of my career has been working with the most exceptional storytellers to connect their work with audiences in countless ways, coupled with a dedication to inclusion and equity at the highest strategic and operational levels across the broadest range of our creative industries,” said Higgs. “A glance at our client list reveals that this is a ethos closely shared with Casarotto Ramsay & Associates — a dynamic and legendary organization known for its prestige, excellence and innovation.”
Founded in 1989 and still independent, Casarotto Ramsey boasts a client list that includes the likes of Steve McQueen, Edward Berger, Lenny Abrahamson, Christopher Hampton, Jack Thorne and Nia DaCosta, as well as literary works including Tennessee Williams and JG Ballard.
Jodi Shields, head of film and television at Casarotto, said: “Anna is a world-class creative leader with a long track record in storytelling across all platforms, formats and genres. “She is uniquely positioned to bring a wealth of new skills and experience to our global business. As we continue to grow our company and culture, and develop our commercial relationships, she will bring a fresh perspective to our strategic developments, while building on our creative and organizational integrity. We are delighted to welcome Anna to our Casarotto family.”
Along with appointing Higgs as chief executive, Casarotto has established an internal advisory board that it says will support the company’s vision and future growth. A new advisory board has been formed to promote the six Casarroto agents and executives who will continue to represent their clients, including Abby Singer, Anthony Mestriner, Emma Trounson, Lucinda Prain, Rachel Taylor and Tracy Brimm.
