Cynthia Nixon has expressed concern about Kim Cattrall’s upcoming cameo in And just like that.
Nixon appeared in Sex and the city reprises her role as Miranda alongside co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker (Carrie) and Kristin Davis (Charlotte).
Last month, it was revealed that Kim Cattrall’s Samantha Jones, who was absent from the first season, will make a brief appearance in the season two finale.
However, according to Nixon, the news should not have been revealed as she believes viewers will be overwhelmed by the spectacle as it spins around.
She told Sunday Times magazine: “We are very disappointed that the secret of Kim’s upcoming appearance has been leaked.
“We very much hope it’s something that people won’t know until they see the episode and it’s going to be a nice surprise when they watch.
She continued: “I worry that with all the positivity, people will wonder what all that fuss is about. The important thing to know is that it was a very short and very small cameo.”
Sex and the city originally ran for six seasons and two films, which were released between 1998 and 2010.
Cattrall began a public controversy with Parker in October 2017, when she shocked fans by claiming that she was “never friends” with her co-star.
Since then, the pair have been engaged in a war of words over the issue, which seems to grow tense when Parker, who plays sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw, returns alongside Nixon (Miranda Hobbs) ) and Davis (Charlotte York) in And just like that.
And just like that mentions Cattrall’s absence in the first episode through a scene where Carrie reveals that Samantha has ended their friendship.
“It’s like she’s dead – we never talk about her,” Carrie says in that scene, adding: “She doesn’t answer my calls anymore.”
Miranda then replied: “Her pride was damaged,” said Carrie, “I think to her I am more than an ATM. I always thought the four of us would be friends forever.”
Cattrall is said to have guest-starred without meeting any of her former co-stars.
