Richard Powell has handed over leadership of Argon & Co’s UK business. Ben Wright will step into his position, having been a partner at the firm since 2020.
Powell, a founding partner of the business, commented: “After an incredible 20-year journey as co-founder and managing partner of Argon & Co in the UK, I am delighted to announce about this leadership change. The company has grown to a prominent position in the industry, tripling in size over the past five years with a relentless focus on quality, culture and recruiting and developing great people. Now that we are living in an ever-changing environment, it is the perfect time for me to focus on my rapidly growing area of operational strategy and transformation, while working with great customers as they seek to execute their business strategies.”
After two decades of business leadership, Powell recently led the introduction of the strategy and transformation practice area within UK business. Looking ahead, he will continue to work for Argon & Co, leading the firm’s strategy and transformation team, helping the firm meet the significant customer growth in the region driven by digitalisation, challenges global supply chains, new resource models and rapidly changing local market behavior bring.
His successor, Ben Wright has been with this business for 4 years. He brings with him a wealth of business management and people leadership experience, good relationships within the Argon & Co global community and strong links with a number of key client accounts.
Before coming to Argon & Co, Wright also held senior management positions at several logistics-oriented companies. Most recently, he was chief retail officer at Total Logistics, while before that he spent three years as chief supply chain officer at Accenture.
Speaking about his promotion, Wright said becoming managing partner of Argon & Co UK was “an honour”. He looks forward to continuing “the legacy that Richard [Powell] and team has built”, and while the company aims to grow in the coming period, Wright is also committed to “preserving the core values and principles that have made Argon & Co a trusted name in the industry”.
He added: “In addition to our UK operations, we are part of the global Argon & Co Group, which means our customers can tap into our knowledge, experience and and best practices both locally and globally. We have exciting growth plans and I look forward to leading my dedicated team into this next chapter, further strengthening our position in the UK market as we solve the local and global challenges facing the customers we serve.”
After merging with Argon & Co in 2018, the company formerly known as Crimson & Co rebranded to match its global parent company in 2020. In the years since, the company has used the support of its global partners to expand its capabilities in the UK through the merger of its subsidiaries. ownership – including the purchase of Ayming’s UK procurement consultancy group in 2021.
