NonStop Local Weather Warning Weekend:
Temperatures are rising to the 100s by the end of the week and stay very strong until early next week. Even under fire-hazardous weather conditions, it is still very dangerous for a fire to break out. Ridging broke out Sunday night with an offshore low beginning to pass through the area early Monday morning. Very little chance of a thunderstorm in the mountains this afternoon/evening this weekend, mainly in the central WA Cascades and The Blues with lots of lightning during these storms. A bit of a relief as overnight lows will be in the mid-60s and even as low as 70 for some places. Temperature Advisory for the Columbia Basin to Omak from noon Saturday to 8 p.m. Sunday. A Red Flag Alert for central Oregon extends further north as well as the southern portion of the Blue Mountains from 11 a.m. Saturday to 11 p.m. Sunday.
Heat & Safety Warning:
-
The great heat risk can cause heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion and heatstroke.
-
Use shade, fans, and air conditioning to beat the heat.
-
Dress appropriately for the weather with lightweight clothing and colors to reflect light.
-
Stay hydrated and wear lots of sunscreen!
-
Look before you lock! Do not leave people or pets in the vehicle.
Monday Friday:
An upper low will move from just west of Washington to the northeast of the Idaho panhandle throughout Monday. Temperatures will remain hot in the years above 90 with a potential for triple digits to persist through next weekend. Not much will change over the next seven days, but we could see some cool conditions set in on Monday and Tuesday next week with a shower in the mountains on Monday afternoon in the Cascades or Blues. Overall very sunny and hot until about Wednesday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the mid-90s early in the week, but warm again by the hundreds and highs of the 90s.
