Thursday:
There are some clouds and fog scattered throughout the area today. High mid to low 80s and over 70s. The mountains will be back to the 60s and conditions will be favorable with a slight breeze, but nothing too extreme. Fire risk remains high through the weekend as very little moisture will penetrate the area. Cool and windy afternoons will develop in the Cascades blowing cool sea air through its gaps, but we also see some weak ripples starting to develop that will keep us warmer over the weekend . Air quality is moderate due to light smoke hovering overhead from Canada.

Friday:
The weekend is a bit warmer, cloudy and sunny. Highs will be in the mid and upper 80s and lows in the mid 50s with a nice weekend ahead, possibly with a small shower or two. Predominantly afternoon gusts for the Cascades at 15-25 mph. Sustained wind speeds will be much less in the 5-15 mph range. Similar conditions will last until late evening, ending just before midnight with strong winds moving further east into the Columbia Basin. Air quality could turn out to be bad for more stagnant areas, but hopes for clear skies and improvements in air quality are on the horizon as we brace for a dry weekend. and lots of wind.

Saturday:
Another cold front will arrive early in the week, bringing us windy conditions. Low confidence will have wind recommended levels anywhere in the area but we could see gusts above 30 mph in the Columbia River Gorge and in the Kittitas Valley. The chance is even smaller that there will be afternoon/evening gusts in the 40+ mph range for those areas, but as the day draws closer, models will help determine this better. Temperatures will drop to their 80s lows again as cold air won’t enter the area until Sunday morning and actually drive temperatures up. The strongest winds will occur mid-afternoon and last as the trench carries cooler air through gaps in the Cascades. Winds will be at 20-30 mph with some places like central Washington and north-central Oregon seeing gusts above 30 mph. These stronger winds will help remove cloudy conditions from the area.
