Barbie doll viewers are reacting to a “scary” cameo in the new movie.
The film Mattel, directed by Greta Gerwig, was released on Friday (July 21) to critical acclaim.
Margot Robbie plays a doll version alongside Ryan Gosling, who plays a version of Ken. Also participating in the film are America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Issa Rae and Will Ferrell.
The film also stars many other recognizable faces in smaller roles as different versions of dolls.
However, one cameo that particularly surprised UK moviegoers was Rob Brydon – and it turned out that Robbie was instrumental in ensuring they appeared in the film.
Initially, fans predicted Rob Brydon might appear in the film after he appeared at the film’s UK premiere earlier this month. The actor later wrote on Twitter: “Had a great time at Barbie doll premiere celebrates my important role as Sugar Daddy Ken. When you go to see this great movie, please don’t blink.”
However, many believed that Brydon was joking only to be left stunned when he appeared in a scene that took place at “the house of” “weird” Barbie played by Kate McKinnon.
While at her house, she notices two Kens, one of whom is undoubtedly Brydon’s Sugar Daddy Ken. There’s a joke that instead of “sugar daddy,” the name given to an older man in a relationship with a younger man, he’s the father of a white-haired dog named Sugar. He shares his screen time with Tom Stourton, whose credits include the sitcom Stath allows apartments and the movie All my friends hate me.
Turns out Robbie is a “big fan” of Gavin & Staceyin which Brydon starred. She told around the world before the release of the movie in which Brydon was starring Barbie doll “is a huge priority for me.”
Brydon recently told Virgin Radio that he once sent Robbie a happy birthday message as Gavin & Staceywas Uncle Bryn, and he said that he was brought in Barbie doll maybe Robbie’s way of saying “thank you”. In addition to the main role in the film, Once upon a time in Hollywood The actor also produced it.

Considering the brief nature of Brydon’s appearance, many quipped that it was a “scare”, with one exclaiming: “I yelled!”
Others described the moment as a highlight that received “cheers” from the crowd.
“Rob Brydon appearing as Sugar Daddy Ken is to me the cherry on top of the Barbie movie,” wrote one viewer, while another added: “I love it. Barbie doll but more importantly I love Rob Brydon as the foster dad and that’s enough for me to give the movie a 10.”
