BBC Breakfast presenter Sally Nugent is reported to have split from her husband after 13 years together.
The newsreader, 51, and Gavin Hawthorn, 52, are said to have been “estranged” in their marriage for many years and so have made the decision to split “amicably”.
They have a teenage son together, a “football and rugby maniac” according to her BBC Breakfast profile page.
The Mirror reports that the pair are said to have “went in different directions” despite attempts to mend their relationship.
“It’s sad but they’re no longer together,” a source told The Sun. Daily mail.
“I think they managed to get through it for quite a while because they didn’t want to break up if there was anything they could do for their son’s sake but obviously they couldn’t get through.
“Both were very cautious about the reasoning behind growing apart but they’ve obviously been that way for a while and now it’s clear they haven’t been able to work it out despite trying to be clear. in a period of time.”
Sally previously gave fans a glimpse into her family life by revealing that finding something for all three of her family members to watch together can be tough. My sofa is in the dining room in the kitchen and there is a giant flat screen TV on the wall,” she explained to Radio Times. “It was hard to get something that my husband, my 13-year-old son, and I wanted to see.
“During the lockdown, we’ve all been hooked on Somebody Feed Phil on Netflix, but it should come as no surprise that I’m a bit of a news junkie.”
Sally has appeared on BBC Breakfast since 2011 but was given a recurring role in 2021 following the departure of Louise Minchin. Now she shares the couch with Jon Kay. Her friendly style and fashion choices mean that she has garnered a lot of fans, who often show their appreciation for her on social media.
Sally made headlines last year after she stunned viewers by wearing a “gorgeous” cycling jacket to present the news, prompting people to demand a change in the dress code.
While Jon wore his usual outfit for the morning show with a navy suit with a red tie, Sally opted for a slightly different look and paired a purple biker jacket with gold zip details with black pants hug people.
People flocked to Twitter to comment on her look, with one saying: “Girl cycling vibes from @sallynugent this morning, gorgeous coat.”
And one fan even wondered why male presenters wear suits on BBC Breakfast while female hosts can wear more “chic” outfits.
They wrote: “How come the female hosts on @BBCBreakfast dress more flamboyantly and casually than the male hosts who have to wear suits and ties to appear more rigid?
