It will be cloudy and cooler today with daytime temperatures peaking only in the mid-60s with scattered storms developing this afternoon and tonight.

The biggest weather risks today are heavy rain and flash flooding, but hail as little as 1.5 inches thick is also possible. At this point, with conditions cool and cloudy, it looks like only showers and mild thunderstorms will be expected for the Denver metro area north, but south of Denver in Douglas, Elbert counties and Jefferson, we have a better chance of seeing some hurricanes turn severe.

Temperatures will rise to 80 degrees tomorrow, still about 10 degrees below normal with the possibility of showers and storms in the afternoon.
