SIOUX FALLS, SD (Dakota News Now) – A Thermal consulting remained in effect for the eastern half of the region for the remainder of the present day with some areas north of South Dakota for a period of time. Excessive heat warning. Those weather warnings will be in effect until 10 p.m. in the south and 11 p.m. in the north. The high would be in the 90s across the region. When you add more humidity, it will again feel like 100 to 105 over most areas today. Make sure you stay cool and hydrated if you plan to go out!
Tonight and tonight, a cold front will slide through the area and a chance of showers and thunderstorms in places. There is a slight risk of severe weather, especially along and west of I-29. The main threats will be some hail and gusty winds, so we’ll keep you updated on any storms coming later today and tonight!
Once that front is crossed, the highs will hit the 80s in a couple of days and we’ll have a short break out of the wet. By the end of this week, 90s highs will be back across the region, and we’ll bring a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms Friday and Saturday.
