First Alert Weather Update: Flash Flood Warning for Ontario County, and more tropical downpours on Sunday

ROCHESTER, NY – Flash Flood Warning in effect for the County of Ontario until 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Saturday afternoon thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall during the strongest storms, causing localized flooding across our region, mainly with poor drainage and low-lying areas. The main event ended here, but some areas were isolated due to scattered showers and storms that continued through Saturday night. Otherwise, expect another sultry and mild night under cloudy skies and patchy fog. Sunday is off to a cloudy start with just a few showers around, but we should see the possibility of rain and storms in the afternoon. Again, the severe threat is fairly low, with the main weather impact being localized heavy rain in any storm that develops. We won’t have the same uncertainty, with lots of cloud around on Sunday, which is why our overall severity threat is lower. We should see a final wave of showers and storms on Monday before being dry on Wednesdaylame pants of July.

We’re going to ramp up the heat by the middle of next week, with peaks above 80 to nearly 90 on Wednesday and Thursday, and dew points above 60, leaving many feeling tropical and quite uncomfortable. Our next rain and storm will arrive late Thursday and into Friday with a cold front.
