Live weather updates in India: The Southwest Monsoon has advanced deeper into most parts of Madhya Pradesh, the rest of Chhattisgarh and coastal Andhra Pradesh, the whole of Odisha and the West Bengal Gangetic, most parts of Jharkhand and Bihar, some parts of the western southeastern Uttar Pradesh, and the rest of the northwest Bay of Bengal today, according to a press release from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

After having to wait longer to enjoy the monsoon rains, the people of Pune on Monday woke up to cloudy skies as Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said the city could receive some rainfall starting Monday. The ministry has forecast widespread rainfall with some intermittent intense spells of the day along the ghat areas of the district. Due to overcast sky conditions, Pune’s humidity recorded in the early hours of Monday morning was above normal and ranged between 70-84%. The minimum temperature also remained at 23 to 26 degrees Celsius in different parts of the city.

An official said the flood situation in Assam worsened on Sunday with eight people killed and more than 37,000 damaged across 30 districts. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), three people died from landslides and five drowned at different locations during the day. Thus, the total number of people killed in floods and landslides this year has reached 70 people.
