– North West of England

Bolton is likely the one to watch. This is a key battleground with every seat on the council contested and both Labor and the Conservatives hoping to do enough to win a majority. However, it will be a tougher task for Labor, which needs 12 raises, than the Conservatives, who need five.

– North East of England

Labor is keen to regain control of Middlesbrough and has only needed to get there twice. A strong showing in Darlington and Sunderland would also point to a good performance in the area where the party needs to win a place in the general election.

– Yorkshire & Humber

Hull is a rare outpost of the Liberal Democrats in the north of England. The party won it from Labor in 2022, but only a slim majority would disappear if Labor only earned it twice.
