The 2022 London Sundance Film Festival lineup was announced this morning, with two British films expected to open and close the event.

Taking place at Picturehouse Central in London’s Soho, as well as cinemas across the UK, the festival will be led by the film Good Luck To You, Leo Grande directed by the director who won the award for Best Director. Best Sundance 2022 Sophie Hyde, and Brian and Charles from British Filmmaker Jim Archer.

And fans are also looking forward to – Good Luck To You, the two main actors of Leo Grande, Emma Thompson and Daryl McCormack, will attend the film’s premiere on June 9.

The festival runs from June 9 to 12 with a featured program including 12 feature films, short films and special events.

All 12 feature-length films were selected from the Sundance American Film Festival in Utah, taking place this January. All films will have their UK premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in London.

Film length choices include the directorial debut of Adamma Ebo, the dark comedy thriller Honk For Jesus, Save Your Soul, starring Regina Hall, Sterling K. Brown and Nicole Beharie, the film. Psychological horror Resurrection by Andrew Seamans and Hatching, mother-child relationship story by director Hanna Bergholm.

Lena Dunham will also screen her second feature film Sharp Stick. The much-awaited sequel to Tiny Furniture tells the story of an innocent 26-year-old girl who begins a romantic relationship with her elderly owner.

There are some compelling documentaries on the list: Joe Hunting’s We Met In Virtual Reality was shot entirely in the VR world; Sara Dosa’s Flames of Love is a National Geographic Documentary about intrepid French scientists Katia and Maurice Krafft, and Julie Ha and Eugene Yi’s Free Sol Choo Lee is about united Asian Americans Fight for the freedom of wrongly convicted Korean immigrant Chol Soo Lee.

There will also be a Short Film Programme, where two collections of short films from around the world are shared as part of a Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour or a UK Short Film Programme.

The Sundance Film Festival Short Film Tour is a 95-minute program of seven films, including three of the festival winners. The short film tour has been running for nearly 40 years and is seen as a launching pad for independent filmmakers. The UK Shorts Show is Sundance’s collection of some of the favorite short films of UK-based filmmakers or films.

As for the short films, you can expect to enjoy Warsha, Dania Bdeir’s film about a Syrian immigrant working on a dangerous crane in Lebanon, You Go Girl! by Shariffa Ali, about a comedian from New York City in Oregon, and Alison Rich’s Training Wheels, about a woman who hires a man.

Other short films include Mika Watkins’ Don’t Forget, John Ogunmuyiwa’s Precious Hair and Beauty, Seeab Gul’s Sandstorm/Mulaqat, and Renee Zhan’s Soft Animals.

Across the UK, movie fans can also join the festival: Good Luck To You, Leo Grande will also open in more than 30 cinemas nationwide from 9-12 June.

The festival’s program includes an international team of British, Finnish, French, Australian, Emirati and Indonesian, Canadian, Lebanese and American filmmakers.
