Meghan Markle’s estranged family sat down for an interview and criticized the Duchess for ‘cutting them off’ in her relationship with Prince Harry.
Duchess Thomas Snr’s estranged father, half-sister Samantha and half-brother Thomas Jnr sat down with Australia’s 7NEWS Spotlight and revealed Meghan in an explosive conversation. When asked by a reporter why they think Meghan cut ties with them, Samantha said it was because they weren’t ‘good enough’ for the royal family.
Meghan’s half-sister Samantha tells Australia 7 NEWS Highlights show: “What she said to the royal family, what she said to Harry wouldn’t make sense, wouldn’t match the truth.”
Mirror reports that Meghan cut ties with her father’s paternal side in 2018 after it was revealed that Thomas Snr staged a series of paparazzi photo sessions before her wedding. During her wedding to Prince Harry, King Charles stepped up and led Meghan down the aisle when her father was not in attendance.
Thomas Snr, 78, who suffered a stroke last year, opened up about his relationship with his daughter as he hoped for reconciliation. “I wish we could sit down and talk. I wish we could work out our differences,” he said.
“She loved me. I was her hero. And suddenly I was thrown out,” Thomas continued.
Samantha criticized her half-sister and claimed that Meghan “would still be a waitress without her dad”, before calling the relationship between the Duke and Duchess “toxic”.
“They’re really not good for each other,” Samantha said in the interview, adding: “It’s a toxic relationship.”
The trio have released previously unseen family footage of Meghan and the rest of the family, aimed at proving that she once had a close relationship with her father. Among the precious childhood videos that were aired were scenes of her playing baseball, weekend fishing at the lake, going to the movies and learning to dance.

In one clip, Meghan appeared in a school play on set that her father had staged. ‘Thanks for everything and see you later, bye,’ said young Meghan as she waved towards the camera.
Prince Harry’s comments about Meghan mourning the loss of her father were also addressed, with father Thomas saying: “She killed me and then mourned me.”
Thomas Snr, Samantha and Thomas Jnr also faced journalist Liam Bartlett, who claimed they were just as bad as the Sussexes, as they also made money from layoffs.
Liam said: “Because you are a family, you are very similar. “And Meghan is really just a clone. What do you say to that proposal? I mean, in the sense that you’re really equally bad?”
“Well, I throw one ball, you throw one back,” replied Thomas Snr. The reporter continued: “I mean, she made money selling her stories, and sometimes you also make money selling your stories-“
Interrupting, Thomas Snr retorted: “No offense, but she could buy a much bigger ball.”
Thomas Snr also defended himself for leaking Meghan’s private letter to the Daily Mail. The father-of-three insisted the late Queen “never read the letter” and that it was “very insulting and cruel”.
He added that Meghan shared the letter with six others, and he sold it to bid to get his side of the story out. Now he says he would “burn it” rather than sell the entire letter.
Samantha has denied claims that Harry and Meghan want privacy and quipped: “Someone wants privacy that isn’t in the books about their toddler.”
Thomas Jr questioned who Meghan would be with if she lost her mother Doria, one of the only family members with whom she maintains a close relationship.
Samantha blamed Harry for Meghan’s behavior now, saying the prince was “shirking responsibility” and it was a “toxic relationship”. She added that Meghan lacked “empathy, regret or shame” and revealed that she didn’t expect the actress to approach unless she was “motivated”.
Thomas Sr was much more empathetic and told both Harry and Meghan that he loved them and was open to reconciliation.
