The Government’s salary offer comes after intense negotiations with RCM and other health unions. This builds on a consolidated £1,400 bonus – or 4% for most RCM members – that has been in place for 2022/23. The offer consists of a non-fixed lump sum of 2% of an individual’s salary, plus a one-time ‘backlog bonus’. The tumor will be worth at least £1,250, with many midwives receiving more than £2,000. For 2023/24, there will be a 5% consolidation bonus and increase to level 1 and the lowest of level 2 is 10.4%. This will see entry-level wages in the NHS rise to £11.45 an hour, providing a much-needed boost to lower-paid staff, the RCM said.
