Moderate rain with possibility of heavy rainfall likely today

Mumbai Weather Update: According to the Regional Meteorological Center, the City of Mumbai received 31 mm of rain and the eastern suburbs and western suburbs received 45 mm and 61 mm respectively in the last 24 hours.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday predicted “moderate rains” with the possibility of heavy rain in isolated parts of Mumbai and its suburbs.

“Moderate rain in the city and suburbs with the possibility of heavy rain in isolated places,” said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

IMD Mumbai in its 7.30am weather forecast said, “Moderate to intense rains are very likely to occur in isolated places in Mumbai Thane and Palghar districts in the next 3-4 hours.”

According to the Regional Meteorological Center, Mumbai City received 31 mm of rain and the eastern suburbs and western suburbs received 45 mm and 61 mm respectively in the last 24 hours.

A high tide of about 3.86 meters is expected to hit Mumbai at 21:42 today, while another high tide of 3.49 meters is expected at 21:15, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said. know. The civil service also said a low tide of about 2.28 meters is expected at 3:28 pm today.

The IMD also said heavy rainfall is expected in the Konkan region and adjacent Western Ghats in central Maharashtra.

The official statement said: “Due to active monsoon conditions, intensified rain activity with heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in some parts of Konkan and ghat areas. adjacent to Madhya Maharashtra in the next 2-3 days”.

Meanwhile, IMD data shows Mumbai received more than 95% of the rainfall recorded this month from June 24 to 29.

Despite heavy showers over the past six days, the city has recorded an overall lack of rainfall this month.

The June normal for the Colaba observatory in south Mumbai is 542.3 mm. This year, it recorded 395 mm of rain, of which 371.4 mm of rain from June 24 to 29.

In the suburbs, the Santacruz weather station’s normal rainfall for June is 537.1 mm. This year, from June 1 to 29, it recorded 502.9 mm of rain, including 485 mm received from June 24 to 29.

The southwest monsoon started to overwhelm Mumbai on 25 June compared to the usual 11 June.
