by Christopher Nolan Oppenheimer there will be “prolonged full nudity” by actors Florence Pugh and Cillian Murphy, a new report has claimed.
Murphy plays nuclear scientist J Robert Oppenheimer in the film, which is released this month, with an important extra episode involving his relationship with psychiatrist and doctor Jean Tatlock, played by Pugh. shoulder.
Talking to GuardMurphy said he was “strictly instructed” not to discuss any specific details about the film’s plot, but did reveal details of the chemical tests in the film between himself, Pugh and Emily Blunt, who plays Kitty, Oppenheimer’s wife.
“They put two actors in one room to see if there were any sparks, and had all the producers and directors sit on the table watching,” he recalls. “I don’t know what yardstick they use, and it seems so silly, but sometimes you get a chemical reaction and nobody knows why.”
The report also added that Murphy and Pugh had “extended full nudity” scenes together, and that made Oppenheimer one of the rare Nolan films to deal with a significant interest in sex and relationships.
Fans theorized that Nolan would enter the field in June, when it was revealed that Oppenheimer received the filmmaker’s first “R” rating in the US since his 2002 film Insomnia.
The R rating is roughly equivalent to “15” in the UK, although the age rating for any film varies at the discretion of each country’s rating agency. Meanwhile, PG-13 is considered more or less equivalent to “12A” in the UK.
Oppenheimer received an R rating for “some sex, nudity and language”, while in the UK it received a certificate of 15 for “obscene and sexual language”.
The film remains one of this summer’s most hyped blockbusters, with Nolan teasing last month that it has left early viewers “devastated”.
“They cannot speak. I mean, there’s an element of fear that exists in the history and background,” said the director.
Like Murphy, Pugh and Blunt, Oppenheimer features a large cast that includes Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr, Rami Malek, Gary Oldman, Dane DeHaan, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, Matthew Modine, Casey Affleck, Alden Ehrenreich and Jason Clarke.
Blunt this week revealed that the cast bonded together while filming the movie in the New Mexico desert in 2022, but Murphy declined to join the cast’s group dinner.
“The sheer volume of what he has to take on and take on is just too great,” A quiet place said the star. “Of course he doesn’t want to come to dinner with us.”
Oppenheimer premieres in cinemas on July 21, the same day as Greta Gerwig .’s film Barbie. Eager fans have planned to buy tickets to see both films return. The viral trend, dubbed “Barbenheimer,” has become so popular that even Murphy, Margot Robbie, and Tom Cruise have publicly endorsed it.
