Cillian Murphy said playing J Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s new film about the physicist who co-created the first atomic bomb was a “big loss”.

The Irish actor, 47, added that the “moral dilemmas and paradoxes” his character struggles with throughout the film are “huge”.

The film recounts the fear of famous physicists that the tests of the first atomic bomb could destroy the planet.
