Last week, former Morning presenter Eamonn Holmes took aim at Schofield and Willoughby in the context of which they were reported to have failed.

“I think there should have been a special award for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby for best actor,” he said.

“The public certainly suspected that there was no chemistry, that there was a rift between the two of them.”

On Friday (May 19), Phillip’s brother Timothy was jailed for 12 years, weeks after being found guilty of multiple child sex offenses over a four-year period.

In April, Timothy was convicted of 11 child sex offenses between October 2016 and October 2019, including twice having sex with a child.

After the sentencing, Phillip – who was absent at This morning during the trial – denied his siblings, saying, “I don’t have a brother anymore.”

Another celebrity who might consider Schofield-Willoughby’s alleged feud is Kim Woodburn, who has sparingly called Willoughby a “two-faced asshole.”

When Schofield announced his departure This morningQuestions quickly arose about who would replace him.

While Holly Willoughby will remain on the ITV daytime program, she will not have a permanent co-host.

Instead, ITV has said that she will co-host with “members of This morning family”.

On Friday night (May 19) episode of BBC comedy show Chris and Rosie Ramsey ShowComedian Jack Whitehall couldn’t resist digging up rumors of ‘discord’ between Schofield and Willoughby.

Appearing on the show with his father Michael, Jack was praised by podcaster Rosie, who said that the father-son duo “just happened to meet like you have a lovely relationship”.

In response, Jack joked, “Behind closed doors, like Holly and Phil, we don’t talk to each other,” with a comment that left the presenters and the audience gasping.

While Schofield announced that he had quit his job This morning with immediate effect, Willoughby shared his own statement.

“Over 13 years of great presentation This morning with Phil and I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all his knowledge, experience, and humour,” she said.

“The sofa wouldn’t be the same without him.”

After reports of tension between Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby surfaced last week, This morning Viewers have been keeping a close eye on ITV to see the awkward moments between the pair.

One such exchange took place on Wednesday’s show (May 17) – now known as Schofield’s penultimate episode – as the couple kissed goodbye.

Willoughby leaves the episode 30 minutes early to meet King Charles III, leaving Phillip to “keep the city”.

Hours before Schofield announced that he was leaving This morningFellow presenter Ulrika Jonsson offered her own thoughts on the matter.

“Daytime television is a lively, narcissistic confluence of ego, vanity, hierarchy and dominance,” Jonsson writes in her column in Sun.

“Holly and Phil forgot about their audience and made themselves the stars of the show, which made them even greater than the show… Maybe this really is the end for Holly and Phil. “

Announcing Schofield’s departure, ITV’s chief executive of media and entertainment praised the presenter for his work on This morning.

“Phillip is one of the best broadcasters of his generation and we thank him for his two decades worth of wonderful television programming on the Internet. This morning’s sofa” he say.

“This morning made by one of the best and most industrious teams in television, who produce more than 12 hours of live TV per week.”
