“I’ve been there when it feels like the worst thing in the world when you lose a girlfriend you love or a job you love, you crash your car or lose a family member you love.
“Whatever it may be, you will always get things that test you. You lose your first friend who died when you were young. ”
He continued: “I remember losing one of my best friends before he turned 30.
“It was devastating, absolutely devastating. But when it happens over and over again with the people you love, you realize, that’s life.
“What is life. The people you love and care about are dead. You have to learn to ride that wave of grief.”
Piers says it’s “not mental illness” or “anxiety,” it’s just something that “we have to deal with.”
