Hugh Laurie praised RMT union boss Mick Lynch for his performance in televised interviews yesterday (June 21).

The union head was interviewed on various channels as railroad workers embarked on the biggest industrial action in 30 years.

In a Sky News interview that went viral, Lynch accused journalist Kay Burley of asking “nonsense” questions.

Another BBC interview showed him telling Labor chairman Baroness Chapman: “I don’t even know who you are.”

Reacting to the videos, House star Laurie posted: “I don’t know enough about the rail dispute. I just observed RMT’s Mick Lynch cleaning up people in the media who tried their luck today. “

Actor Kathy Burke wrote: “Happy Mick Lynch Day!”

Many other social media users praised Lynch’s performance. “Is it just me or if Mick Lynch were Labor leader would it be 20 points clear in the polls? In every interview he is brilliant,” wrote one fan.

“Does anyone know how I can buy Mick Lynch a pint tonight, because that man totally deserves it,” another added. “He’s done more to challenge Tory lying in a single day than the Labor bench has done in two years!”
