Rainn Wilson shares moment fellow passenger watching The Office recognises him on flight

Rainn Wilson talked about the viral moment he caught the person sitting next to him on a flight watching Office.

Comedian and actor who played Dwight Schrute in all nine seasons of the US version Office before it ended in 2013. Steve Carell plays boss Michael Scott at work.

Wilson posted a video to Instagram stories showing him sitting on a Delta Airlines flight next to a man watching the popular comedy show.

In the viral video, Wilson is seen wearing a mask and shaking his head slowly, before turning the camera to capture a scene where the passenger appears to be engrossed in a movie, unaware that the Dwight star is sitting right next to him.

Wilson was also wearing a cap and headphones at the time, which partially obscured his identity.

ABOVE Tonight’s Show Starring Jimmy FallonWilson explains how he finally revealed his identity to fans.

“I nudged him towards the end and I said, ‘So, you seem to really enjoy that show. I heard it was a bit bad,’ the actor recalled.

“And he said, ‘Well, it started off a little slow in season one, you have to get used to it but you’ll enjoy it.’”

Wilson said he then “slowly” began to lower his mask to reveal his identity as Office star.

“It took him about 47 seconds to talk to me and then all of a sudden it was like one of those face-melting brain explosions,” he said. “And we bonded and it was beautiful.”

Wilson, currently promoting her new book Soul Explosion: Why We Need a Spiritual Revolution, recently made headlines to accuse HBO Our Last about perpetuating “anti-Christian bias in Hollywood.”

Office star got into trouble with the eighth episode of the popular video game adaptation, which featured a cannibal pastor named David (Scott Shepherd).

Wilson then went on to comment clarifying that he was “not even a Christian” and mocked conservative US broadcaster Fox News for covering his views.
