Steve Carell has revealed there will be a special preview for his upcoming animated film Minions: The Rise of Gru at this week’s Glastonbury Festival.

The fifth movie in I am despicable the franchise acts as a origin story for Gru (voiced by Carell) and his Minions, telling the story of how the group has come into existence to fight against the unstoppable force of crime.

Pilton Palais, the festival’s cinema, shared a video on Twitter of Carell’s official announcement.

“Hello, Glastonbury. I’m Steve Carrell, and I’m happy to announce that my minions are bringing our new movie, Minions: The Rise of Gruto Glastonbury Festival on Friday 24 June,” he began.

“Come to the famous Pilton Palais tent for another special screening, and be among the first in the UK to see it. I hope you guys enjoy the movie and have a great time. ”

Minions: The Rise of Gru Releases in cinemas on July 1.

The UK Music Festival – which starts tomorrow, June 22 and runs until June 26 – recently confirmed The Chemical Brothers as a last-minute addition to the lineup.
