Heywood’s Studio 82 hair salon was shortlisted for the UK Hair and Beauty Awards.
The salon, which turned second on April 14, broke into the top 10 in the ‘best for blondes’ category in the black tie event.
Studio 82 is run by Danica Hampton and Darcy Jones, who started out renting a small salon on King Street.
Within 18 months, they had expanded the space and moved into a three-story salon on Manchester Road. They are joined by a holistic therapist, Samantha Wilson; a microblading expert, Stacey Saunders; and hairstylist Jess Taylor.
Danica said: “Darcy is an expert in vivid colors and I have a degree in colors from L’Oréal and I am also an expert on blondes.
“We entered the prize pool in October 2022 with a bit of a whim and never expected to make it to the finals let alone make it into the top 10 of our region.
“The UK Hair and Beauty Awards are the most prestigious in the country and we feel very honored and proud to be recognized by them.”
The UK Hair and Beauty Awards were held in Birmingham on 22 April and were a red carpet and black tie event featuring celebrity hosts Jake Quickenden and Duncan James.
