UK weather latest: Freezing temperatures prompt amber health alert; some snow expected; more than 100 flood warnings | UK News

With an amber cold health warning in place until Friday, here’s the weather forecast for the next few days.

According to the Met Office, some wintry showers are possible today, mainly in the North East and South West of England.

The weather service said it will be cold, especially with gusty winds across the South, but will remain largely dry and sunny.

Clear weather will lead to widespread frost overnight, becoming “severe” in many places.

Winds will remain light in the south, while light coastal showers will scatter the cloudier north-east of England.

Tomorrow it is likely to be dry and sunny in the south.

The northern areas are cloudy, with light rain and drizzle, transitioning to winter on high ground.

Temperatures are expected to remain below average.

The rest of the week

From Thursday to Saturday, skies will become cloudier and the weather will become a bit milder.

But come Saturday, northerly winds will once again bring lower temperatures as well as the risk of wintry showers.

Next week

Next week there will be seven more days of classic British winter.

The Met Office predicts cloudiness with drizzle in central and southern areas, with sunny spells and scattered winter showers further north and along the coast.

The agency said there was a very small risk of another round of snowfall in some southern areas.
